  • The journey starts with the first step

I am on a continuing journey with online facilitation, learning improved ways of presenting vocational learning resources, adjusting workplace assessment so it is the changes in workplace behaviour we are measuring, for if this doesn't change is the training effective??

I have lately been on a personal growth journey, dealing with an ageing parent, and ensuring safe care when he can no longer make these decisions for himself. And watching over children fast becoming adults, supporting their decisions but no longer taking the responsibility for their choices. A fine balance of life, ancestry and descendants.

On now I am about to embark on a new journey, one of travel, wonderment and partnership. To foreign lands, Korea, and then throughout England, and maybe even France. Of flight, vehicle, ship and rail. A strengthening of the personal relationship with my husband, best friend and lover. Time well spent to ensure we are preparing for our future togetherness.

  • Strangers in our midst

It is hard watching my Dad deteriorate almost day by day, so that this once dominating and very powerful man is now so dishevelled, and almost incoherent with mumblings and ramblings. Yet this person who can barely hold a conversation is still classed as well enough to be in charge of his own actions, and allowed to drive a vehicle! He doesn't eat or sleep and is very easily aggravated. Depression is such a serious illness, and he should have sought help so long ago. So many immediate family members can be affected, yet to outsiders he can appear to be so well. He can threaten my life one minute, yet sit quietly chatting to others the next. He has often said I do not understand him, and I now agree wholeheartedly; this man who I have known the longest in time has always been a stranger to me.

  • Not in my backyard!

There are known health problems living near Gladstone's coal mining facility, and tonight the community of Burnett Heads were meant to be placated by the Brisbane Port Authority and Northern Energy to gain support for a coal loading facility at Burnett Heads Port; receiving some 35 double-B trucks every 24 hrs from a new coal mine near Aldershot (near Maryborough).
It is a case of Not In My Backyard.
Economics were raised that the Bundaberg Port is under-utilised, well, I don't care, and think alternative strategies for regional growth should be explored.
The impact to the reef, local community health, property values, future industry are enormous.
To get an idea of the emotion, some 200 odd community members tried to squeeze into the local hall.

What are you passionate about in your community?

  • back verandah

My back verandah is my favourite room of the house (is this OK when it isn't technically in the house?)

I have been sitting outside listening to the storm birds and the ocean all day, and watching Daneyl pull faces so she can try out the web-cam in my new EEE PC laptop :) I have also been writing fluoridation stuff, but it doesn't seem like work when I look around at the trees and hear the fountain. (sigh)

Do you have a favourite spot at home?

About Me

  • Hi, I enjoy working in the TAFE QLD developing online training for the water industry and living on the coast with my family. Bringing everyone along for the journey who is interested in my progress of learning about e-learning, online learning, internet learning, facilitating online programs, how to effectively support online workplace learning...
